Our client, a well-established and highly respected agribusiness group, is seeking an experienced Feed Mill 2IC to support the leadership and performance of its feed milling operations in the Millmerran area.

Reporting to the General Manager Feed Mill, this role is a critical second-in-command position responsible for operational excellence, quality control, cost management and continuous improvement across the mill. This is an opportunity to step into a senior operational role with genuine influence, accountability and future growth potential.

As Feed Mill 2IC, you will play a key role in ensuring the mill operates safely, efficiently and profitably, while delivering high-quality feed to company-owned poultry operations.

You will contribute to strategic planning and execution, oversee daily production operations and drive performance improvements across maintenance, inventory, compliance and quality systems.

The Role:

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee day-to-day feed mill operations servicing poultry farms and grain/commodity storage facilities;

  • Ensure optimal production efficiency and uninterrupted feed supply;

  • Monitor real-time performance data to optimise feed quality and suitability;

  • Liaise with Construction & Services regarding maintenance requirements;

  • Weigh trucks on the bridge as required;

Strategy & Performance

  • Contribute to business strategy and operational planning;

  • Participate in group strategic initiatives and improvement projects;

  • Prepare performance and operational reports for management;

  • Drive accountability for revenue, cost control and profitability outcomes against budget;

Quality & Compliance

  • Adhere to and uphold company quality control procedures;

  • Ensure compliance with environmental licences and regulatory requirements;

  • Maintain accurate operational, production and weighbridge records;

  • Ensure materials are stored and documented in accordance with SOPs;

Inventory & Stock Control

  • Manage floor stock levels and conduct weekly stocktakes;

  • Reorder base mixes, premixes and other mill products;

  • Calculate weeks-on-hand to avoid overstocking;

  • Identify slow-moving stock and advise management for resale;

Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain a safe working environment through diligence and reporting;

  • Monitor maintenance schedules, records and inventory systems;

  • Review emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency;

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement.

The Person:

You are an experienced feed mill or grain processing professional with strong operational capability and commercial awareness.

You bring:

  • Experience in feed milling, grain handling or agricultural processing

  • Strong understanding of quality control and environmental compliance

  • Operational leadership experience in a production environment

  • Budget awareness and cost-control capability

  • Sound computer and data entry skills

  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping discipline

  • A proactive, hands-on approach

  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement
