With operations in New South Wales and Victoria, our client supplies raw materials, premixes, medications and additives to the intensive farming and livestock industries, as well as nutritional advice and training to their clients. With a new 5-year strategy that focusses on the delivery of key solutions that meet and exceed the needs of their clients, they are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual in the role of General Manager to help them deliver on this strategy.

Reporting to the Board, the General Manager will manage the full profit and loss of the business. Ideally the successful applicant will have a proven track record of success, either within the feed solutions sector, or an agribusiness sales and/or logistics business. They will possess sound commercial acumen, and have a thorough understanding of the requirements of the intensive farming and livestock industries. In addition, the role requires someone with exceptional communication and people management skills, who is able to work with the team to identify growth opportunities, for both the business and the team.     

The Position:

  • Plan and oversee the execution of initiatives to develop the business, improve profitability, and develop the team;
  • Manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the company in alignment with the business plan;
  • Set and monitor KPIs to support the team in the delivery of agreed budgets and timelines;
  • Mentor and coach key personnel to foster and develop an environment where a high performing team can add value to the business and strive for continuous improvement;
  • Initiate, cultivate and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers to ensure optimal performance of the company and its products;
  • Identify strategies that will improve existing operations and maximise product sales;
  • Ensure product quality is of the highest standard and in accordance with product specifications.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ exposure, with a feed solutions, agribusiness sales or logistics and distribution highly desirable;
  • Proven management expertise in sales, operations, logistics or supply chain environments essential;
  • Formal qualifications in an agribusiness related discipline;
  • Proven capability to manage and deliver growth and profit within agreed budgets and timelines;
  • Demonstrated capability to forecast and model sustainable sales and company growth over time (5 years).

The Person:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, collaborative team player;
  • Excellent computer literacy skills;
  • Strong commercial acumen with expertise in either sales or logistics and distribution highly desirable;
  • Principle centred leadership skills with experience in the development of teams and individuals;
  • Cross functional skills with high attention to detail;
  • Ability to succeed and deliver best for business results in a highly dynamic environment.
